Nursing Services
Mission Nursing Home provides skilled nursing services to male residents with complex medical needs, behaviors and chemical dependency. We are able to treat a variety of health care issues using multiple treatment modalities which include:
- Wound Care: including wound Vac therapy, specialty mattresses, in-house wound consultant and highly skilled wound certified nursing staff with excellent outcomes.
- Respiratory management: BiPAP, CPAP, oxygen – both hi-flow and nasal cannula, nebulizer treatments, trilogy vents and pulmonary percussion.
- Feeding Tubes and Parenteral nutrition.
- IV therapy including central lines.
- Congestive Heart Failure/cardiac disease management.
- Fractures – Large bone, multiple, trauma, prosthetics, splints and braces.
- Stroke/TIA management.
- Renal Failure (dialysis) services including access management.
- Behaviors (sexually inappropriate, agitation/aggression), chemical dependency histories and alcohol-related illnesses.
- Bedside paracentesis, drain management, Jackson-Pratt drains/suction and percutaneous nephrology tubes.
- Seizure protocols and management.
- All clinical staff are certified in BLS and trauma management.
Our specialized staff is trained to take care of many unique health issues and behaviors which ultimately reflect on our healthy and happy residents. All of our departments: nursing, therapies, activities, dietary and social services work closely to ensure our residents receive the highest quality of care in order to achieve active, emotionally and mentally stable residents who take pride in their successes.
Social Services
Social Services at Mission Nursing Home works as a part of the team to assist our residents to maintain their highest level of psychosocial wellbeing. Social Services provides:
- One-to-one counseling to assist residents and/or their families with their concerns.
- Provide residents with access to community services.
- Plan and implement behavior management services.
- Act as liaison to psychological services.
- Assist residents in obtaining their psychosocial goals.
- Advocate for the resident and their rights.
- Assist residents with self-governing through Resident Council.
- Assist resident with mail and financial concerns.
- Manage the Alcohol Program for those who choose to still drink and provide support for those who choose to maintain sobriety.
- Manage smoking programs to ensure the safety of our residents who continue to smoke.
- Provide discharge planning services as needed.
The goal of social services is to provide a safe, therapeutic environment for individuals who may have issues with mental health, chemical health, behavior or cognitive deficits. This is further enhanced by input from the individual resident as well as the interdisciplinary team.
Therapy Services
Mission Nursing Home offers comprehensive, on-site rehabilitation services provided by Pro-Rehab, supporting both short-term Transitional Care Unit (TCU) stays and long-term care (LTC) residents. Our dedicated team of Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapists works collaboratively to help each resident achieve their highest possible level of physical, cognitive, and functional independence.
Whether recovering from an acute illness, surgery, or injury in our TCU, or receiving ongoing skilled services in long-term-care, residents benefit from individualized therapy programs designed to promote safety, function, and quality of life.
Skilled Therapy Services Include:
- Strengthening and functional fitness
- Gait training, balance training, and fall prevention
- Stroke recovery and restoration of functional abilities
- Dementia care and cognitive-based interventions
- Speech and language therapy for aphasia and communication improvement
- Swallowing evaluations and therapeutic interventions
- Diet texture recommendations in collaboration with nursing and dietary staff
- Wheelchair positioning and mobility optimization
- Contracture management and range of motion programs
- Activities of Daily Living (ADL) training promote independence
- Adaptive and assistive equipment assessment and fitting
- Community reintegration and quality-of-life focused goals
Our therapists have extensive experience working with residents who present with behavioral challenges related to dementia, mental illness, and substance use disorder, utilizing individualized and compassionate treatment approaches to support safety, participation, and meaningful outcomes.
Veterans Affairs (VA) Approved Provider
We are proud to serve Veterans and VA-referred residents, with therapy staff experienced in addressing the complex medical, physical, and cognitive needs often associated with military service, hospitalization, and aging.
Through close collaboration with Mission’s interdisciplinary care team, the Pro-Rehab staff remains committed to improving the health, function, and overall well-being of every resident through teamwork, communication, and compassion while honoring the service of our Veteran population.

Food and Nutrition Services
- Provide comprehensive nutrition and dietetic services that address preventative, therapeutic and rehabilitative nutritional care with an individualized approach.
- A registered dietician provides nutritional monitoring and education.
- Nutrition support for critically ill residents.
- Menus based on resident input, providing variety and choices.
- Meals and snacks are available throughout the day, providing a home-like feel.
- Personalized meal orders.
- Focus on quality through “made from scratch” cooking.
The Food Service Team at Mission Nursing Home is dedicated to ensuring residents’ needs and preferences are provided in an uplifting environment.
Activity Department
The Activity Department’s main goal is to maintain each resident’s individual lifestyle and provide meaningful experiences. Mission Nursing Home’s Activity Department strives to provide an individualized and organized social and activities program that is as near to a normal living situation as is possible. We encourage our residents to function at their maximum level of independence by providing programming that meets their physical, emotional, social, spiritual and intellectual needs as well as the individualized interest of each person.
- Programs are offered seven days a week, both days and evenings.
- Group programs such as bingo, church, games of chance, current events, reminiscing and physical games.
- Activities staff work individually with residents for one-on-one visits as well as assisting with independent pursuits,
- Residents are given the opportunity to take advantage of the beautiful grounds by participating in such activities as fishing, walking the grounds and socializing on the patio.
- Video games such as Wii bowling, fishing, hunting, Wheel of Fortune and Price is Right are also available for resident use.
- Residents that choose individual activities can enjoy gardening, puzzles, music, movies, wood crafts and reading.
- TV viewing is available in TV lounges, the Activity Room, the upstairs library and the first-floor indoor smoking room.
- Haircuts are available once a month for only $10.00, and beards are trimmed for only $5.00.

- Tobacco dependency smoking programs – indoor and outdoor.
- Dental Services – Dental services are available on site. The dentist and assistants come into the building on a monthly basis to provide convenient on-site services for our residents.
- Podiatrist Services – Podiatry services are provided on-site for our residents.
- Vision Services – Full-service optometric services are available on-site, including testing, ordering glasses and repair services.
- Hearing Aid Services – Hearing tests, hearing aids and full-service repair are available onsite.
- Pharmacy Services – Licensed Pharmacist reviews medications for interactions, dose reductions etc.
- Laboratory, X-Ray and Ultrasound services are available on site.
- Hospice Services.
- Respite services are available with a minimum of a 7-day stay.
- Quality Assurance Committee – Meets on a quarterly basis to review/assess the care provided for our residents and to ensure quality care for all residents.
