October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Domestic violence affects millions of any gender, any race, religion, culture and status. Domestic abuse can be physical or emotional.

For 40 years, Missions Inc.’s Home Free has been serving domestic violence survivors by giving them shelter and providing legal and social services.

Every October, we devote our time to spreading awareness to hopefully break the cycle of abuse. Join us this October as we share insider information about how our programs work, how we’ve adapted this year during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) Pandemic and how you can take these lessons and educate and spread awareness in your life.

What can you do?

This month we’ve shared stories, resources and more about domestic violence. You might be left with the question, what can I do?

Check out our blog post and learn three ways you can have a direct impact TODAY!

Missions Inc.’s Home Free Community Program provides important advocacy for survivors of domestic violence. Violence Free Minnesota Homicide Report

Each year Violence Free Minnesota puts out a homicide report honoring the lives of those killed due to domestic violence in the year prior.

In 2019, 21 people were killed in incidents of domestic violence. It’s important we remember their lives and tell their stories.
