| On Tuesday, December 17, Safeside BBQ generously prepared and served a delicious holiday meal for residents across all our programs and Mission Nursing Home. Using the Mission Lodge kitchen, the Safeside BBQ team crafted a meal of smoked turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, and green beans. Residents from Smith Lodge, Mission Heights, Hart House, and Home Free gathered in the Mission Lodge dining hall to enjoy the meal together, creating a sense of community and celebration. Meals were delivered to our Judy Retterath Withdrawl Management Center clients, while the Safeside BBQ truck made a special stop at Bickham Court to hand out meals. It was a joy to see so many residents excited about the special meal, with many even asking for seconds! This act of generosity has a meaningful connection as the wife of Safeside BBQ’s owner once worked at Judy Retterath Withdrawal Management Center and has been following our work on social media. Through a connection with our Intake Coordinator, Melissa, Safeside BBQ was inspired to give back to those they felt truly deserved it. The donated meals were made possible through generous funding from JCI Lake Elmo. We are incredibly grateful to Safeside BBQ and JCI Lake Elmo for making our residents’ holidays brighter. Moments like these are a beautiful reminder of the power of community, kindness, and connection. |
