Position: House Manager

Position Summary: Mission Lodge, an 89-bed residential program for men and women who are chronically chemically dependent, is seeking full-time and on call House Managers. This position will provide direct service to men and women who have chronic addition to drugs or alcohol. They are responsible for monitoring resident activity, ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents.
 

Experience & Qualifications:

This position will provide supportive services and a secure, safe environment for residents; maintain confidentiality of all residents; monitor medication; assist in resident transportation; answer incoming calls; conduct random urinalysis drug/alcohol screenings; make a visual check of all residents and document residents’ status; assist with meals; provide crisis intervention; complete clerical and other tasks; work well with people from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds, and have awareness of culturally specific resources.

  • Experience with chronic chemical dependency, homelessness and poverty.
  • Ability to maintain safety and provide appropriate and respectful services to chemically dependent people in a chemically-free board and lodging setting.
  • Experience in a residential program required. 
  • One year sobriety if chemically dependent.
  • Maintain confidentiality, ethical boundaries and professional conduct in all interactions with residents. 
  • Experience mediating problems using de-escalation techniques. 
  • Ability to work well with people from diverse racial, cultural, social and economic backgrounds and to promote fairness and equality.

Position:  LPN
Program: Mission Detox Center
Location: Plymouth, MN  

FTE:  On-call positions available all shifts

Position Summary: Nurses provide health care services for patients undergoing detoxification and serve as the responsible staff person on all shifts;   7:00 am - 7:00 pm,  7:00 pm - 7:00 am.  

Experience & Qualifications: 

  • Minnesota LPN license;
  • One year of nursing experience;
  • Two years freedom from chemical use problems;
  • The ability to meet the physical demands of the job including ability to bend, stoop, and kneel frequently on a shift, ability to ascend and descend flights of stairs and other lifting or physical requirements;
  • Knowledge and/or experience in management of intoxicated and chemically dependent persons is preferred;

Position: Women's Advocate
Program: Home Free
Location: Plymouth, MN  

FTE:  Full-Time (On-Call positions available on all shifts)

Position Summary: The Women's Advocate will provide advocacy, crisis intervention, support, information, and access to resources appropriate to the needs of battered women and their children. 

Experience & Qualifications:

  • An understanding of and sensitivity to the unique problems encountered by women and children needing shelter and advocacy services;
  • Knowledge of social service, welfare, mental health and criminal justice systems pertinent to the needs of abused women;
  • The ability to respond to women and children in crisis with appropriate listening and intervention skills;
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 35 pounds; be able to bend, stoop, kneel and climb (ascend and descend) several flights of stairs;
  • Valid Minnesota drivers license and an insurable driving record;

Position: Children's Advocate
Program: Home Free
Location: Plymouth, MN   

FTE:  Full-Time & Part-Time

Position Summary: The Children's Advocate is responsible for providing childcare for children ages new born to seventeen years. It will include coordinating a variety of activities; including meeting with moms one on one, leading parenting groups, leading children's support groups, public speaking with schools or youth groups, recreational outings, transportation and one on one time with the children as well as any tasks needed to maintain the safety of the play areas and outside of the shelter.  This position reports to the Children’s Program Coordinator.  

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Must have previous experience working with children;
  • Minimum 18 years of age;
  • Have a valid MN Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to Missions Inc. insurance company;
  • Must be able to work well with people from diverse racial, cultural, social and economic backgrounds;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to women and children experiencing domestic violence;

Position: Legal Advocate
Program: Home Free Community Program
Location: Plymouth, MN 

FTE:  Part-Time

Position Summary: The Legal Advocate will provide individual and class advocacy with social service, mental health, medical and criminal justice systems on behalf of abused women in the community; perform legal advocacy duties in all arrest and non-arrest cases; provide crisis intervention, supportive listening, and information on resources; provide transportation for the women in the community; train volunteers and educate those in the community about our programs; submit data reports; participate in inter- and multi-disciplinary committees and ongoing training; maintain the confidentialty of all clients; other tasks as assigned.

Experience & Qualifications: 

  • Civil and criminal advocacy experience;
  • Knowledge of social service, welfare, mental health, civil and criminal justice systems pertinent to the needs of abused women;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to be professional and diplomatic;
  • An understanding of and sensitivity to the unique problems encountered by women and children needing advocacy service, including understanding the impact of trauma;
  • The ability to respond to women and children in crisis with appropriate listening and intervention skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills;

Position: Immigrant Advocate
Program: Home Free

Position Summary: The Immigrant Advocate will provide individual and class advocacy with social service, mental health, medical and criminal justice systems on behalf of immigrant battered women; provide transportation in own vehicle and/or agency vehicles; provide information and referrals appropriate to the needs of immigrant women, facilitate a support group; conduct community education and outreach; work well with people of diverse racial, cultural, social and economic backgrounds. 

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of social service, welfare, mental health, civil and criminal justice systems pertinent to the needs of immigrant battered women;
  • An understanding of and sensitivity to the unique problems encountered by immigrant women and children needing advocacy services;

Position: Chemical Dependency Counselor
Program: Mission Detox Center
Location: Plymouth, MN  

FTE:  (On-call positions available)

Position Summary: This position provides individual assessment, intervention and referral, making DSM-V diagnoses and document the above in formal discharge summaries; show evidence of consideration to age-specific differences when collecting information, evaluating needs, and making referrals; maintain a therapeutic relationship with clients; provide comprehensive written records on individual clients so that medical records, licensing, and program standards are maintained; admit and discharge clients, complete chart forms; observe behaviors, recognize and report potential medical or psychiatric emergencies; respond to client behavior in a safe and therapeutic manner, showing evidence of age-specific differences; provide crisis intervention; conduct Rule 25 assessments;  develop individualized treatment plans; complete 15 hours of continuing education annually and maintain qualified rule 25 Assessor status; work well with people from diverse racial, cultural, social and economic backgrounds. 

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Licensed Alcohol and Drug counselor (LADC);
  • Competency in areas of: chemical abuse and dependency, chemical use assessments, case management, individual counseling, crisis intervention;
  • Prior training/experience in assessing needs of adolescents and seniors - or - completion of program training within thirty days of employment;
  • Ability to perform basic health assessment procedures, CPR, first aid, and client care functions, or upon employment completion of Mission Detox Center technician training;
  • Evidence of two years free from chemical use problems;
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the job which may include walking, bending, stooping, and kneeling multiple times per shift, other lifting or transferring of clients, ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds, ability to ascend and descend two flights of stairs,

Position: Chemical Dependency Technician
Program: Mission Detox Center
Location: Plymouth, MN  

FTE:      Part-Time and On-call positions available all shifts; (7:00am-3:30pm, 3:00-11:30pm, 11:00pm - 7:30am)

Position Summary: This position will assist in the detoxification process of clients while maintaining high standards of care; admit and discharge clients according to established procedures; observe and chart patient behaviors, considering individual and age-specific differences, in order to recognize, report and assist in addressing potential medical, psychiatric and behavioral problems; appropriately document clients’ progress in clinical record; work well with people from diverse racial, cultural, social and economic backgrounds; complete 15 hours training annually per Minnesota Department of Human Services Rule 32. 

Experience & Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or G.E.D.;
  • Knowledge of chemical dependency;
  • Ability to, once employed and upon successful completion of the Mission Detox Center training, have the ability to perform basic health assessments, first aid and client care functions;
  • Meet the physical demands of the job including: walking, bending, stooping and kneeling multiple times per shift; other lifting or transferring of clients; ability to lift in excess of 35 pounds;
  • Work well with people from diverse racial, cultural, social and economic backgrounds. 
  • Must present evidence of a minimum of one-year's freedom from chemical use problems.

 Compensation: Hourly rate $14.18 on call and $14.18 ($29,494) to $14.74 ($30,659) part time positions. Salary commensurate with skills and experience. Position: Advocate
Program: Hart House

FTE: Full-Time Overnights Sunday - Thursday  (On-Call position for week-ends, all shifts)

Position Summary:  Hart House is a transitional housing program for women in recovery. Located in St. Paul, MN Hart House has 24-beds and provides women with safe, sober housing, goal-planning, advocacy, support and information. The program is staffed 24-hours and provides three meals daily. Openings for on-call staff; overnight and weekend shifts available. 

Experience & Qualifications:

This position will provide supportive services and a secure, safe environment for residents; maintain confidentiality of all residents; monitor medication; assist in resident transportation; answer incoming calls; conduct random urinalysis drug/alcohol screenings; make a visual check of all residents and document residents’ status; assist with meals; provide crisis intervention; complete clerical and other tasks; work well with people from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds, and have awareness of culturally specific resources.

  •  Have an understanding of chemical dependency and the needs of women in recovery; 
  •  Have and maintain, sobriety, if chemically dependent; 
  •  An understanding and sensitivity to the unique problems encountered by people experiencing homelessness, mental illness, and chemical dependency;

  • An awareness of culturally specific resources; 
  • Able to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds; able to bend, stoop, kneel and climb (ascend and descend) flights of stairs.
